Saddle up with Ponyland for a ride into a heady, energetic world of live samba reggae, afro-beat, jazz & drum ‘n’ bass, with an 8-piece Cumbrian band.
Born in Maryland, USA, Jalen N’Gonda chose the city of Liverpool as the place in which he would flourish as a musician. It was at the age of 11 he began getting into music, inspired by his father’s collection of jazz, hip-hop, soul and classical records.
A few years later, Jalen is living in the UK, and is announced by the Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF) Academy as one of its ‘Most Ready’ artists for 2015. Besides his performance at LIMF Jalen has played gigs across the UK and beyond, selling out his first headline show in London and supporting touring acts such as Laura Mvula, Martha Reeves and Lauryn Hill at the Montreal Jazz Festival.
Taking cues from the British Punk Jazz scene and utilising extended breathing techniques and special FX (championed by players such as Mats Gustafson and Colin Stetson), Run Logan Run create music that is both beautiful and brutal. Though the band have only been together since 2015 they have already gathered a cult following in their hometown of Bristol and recently played two exceptional support slots opening up for Melt Yourself Down and Colin Stetson. They are currently touring the UK to showcase their debut release EP1, which came out in April 2016.
