Lancaster Arts: Breathing Space – Connecting Us & Supporting Freelance Artists

We’ve reflected on how we, together with artists, can best contribute to these very hard times and have been looking at imaginative ways of enabling artists to ease isolation and disconnectedness. Mayor of Lancaster launches poetry competition

The Mayor of Lancaster is asking local children to put pen to paper to help find his Young Poet Laureates of the year with the theme being “Unity in the Community”.

Councillor David Whitaker has launched a quest to find this year’s Lancaster District’s Young Poet Laureates and is asking budding writers to write an original poem of no more than 40 lines. The theme “Unity in the Community” is asking local children to look at how we can make our communities stronger, more tolerant and show respect for each other. There are two categories: Junior Poet Laureate (up to age 11) and Young Poet Laureate (12-16).
